Cllr Muriel Cole, Phil James and Steve Comer help Ms Muriel Chester, Sophie Chester and guests celebrate the official opening.
A new residential care centre opened on the Fishponds Road this week for adults with behavioural and learning difficulties. The centre will provide support around the clock if needed to allow these individuals to make the most of their own potential within the community.
Mrs Muriel Chester, owner of St Mary's Residential Care Centre and John Macdonald, the Centre's manager, invited local residents and community leaders to celebrate the opening of the Centre last Friday with the cutting of a ceremonial ribbon and a cake. Steve Comer, Liberal Democrat Focus editor and Cllr Muriel Cole, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Eastville attended, as did the Liberal Democrat prospective parliamentary candidate for Bristol East, Philip C James.
Prospective Liberal Democrat MP for Bristol East, Phil James, said
"We wish the residents and staff of St Mary's every success in the future. Despite budgets limitations these days it is important that politicians make sure front-line services receive the support they need. Cuts to services hurt real individuals in the short term and the community in the long term."
